The founder, CEO and chairman of Kerzner International Holdings, Kerzner has won international acclaim for his high-end resorts. The 72-year-old has been in the hotel/resort and casino industries for around 40 years. He founded both of Southern Africa’s largest hotel groups, and is credited with playing a big role in the development of the tourism industries in Mauritius and The Bahamas.
He has got several awards including Hotels Magazine’s 2004 Hotelier of the World and a lifetime achievement award from the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa.
His $1.5bn Atlantis hotel in Dubai is all set to open its doors in September this year. The resort will feature a 1,539-room hotel, Aquaventure – said to become Dubai’s largest water-themed attraction, and the Ambassador Lagoon, which is will eventually house 65,000 fish.
