The crude, overweight, incompetent, clumsy, thoughtless, alcoholic is one of the star character of hit TV cartoon show ‘The Simpsons.’ He first appeared on television in the show “Good Night”, and is seen to represent the stereotype of the American working class. Homer was created by cartoonist Matt Groening, voiced by Dan Castellaneta and named after Groening’s father.

The father of three is 40 years old and is married to Marge Simpson. His children are Bart, Lisa and Maggie, and he works at the Springfield Nuclear Plant.

Homer was described by the Sunday Times as the greatest comedic creation of modern time. He has inspired an entire line of merchandise and his catchphrase, the annoyed grunt “D’oh!” is now also included in the Oxford English Dictionary.
