Being no historian Kipp had to leaf through more then a few specialized websites to bring you the content for this slide. According to our research, the first books were made as far back as 3100 BC in Southern Iraq when Sumerians baked clay tablets on which they made inscriptions. By 500 BC, Egyptians developed papyrus rolls on which scribes of the time recorded thoughts, philosophy and accounting.
The extinction of the papyrus plant forced man to look for alternatives. Oddly, it wasn’t until 600 years later, in 105 AD, that paper was invented in China. It was introduced to Europe by Andalusians some time during the 10th century. Paper production flourished in Europe in the 14th century, promptlyaided by the invention of the printing press by Gutenberg in 1450…and the restis really history.
