The UAE team
The UAE cricket team is a new kid on the block, relatively. They joined the ICC in 1989, and have established themselves as one of the strongest non-Test playing sides in Asia. Not bad for a team whose first game took place in February 1976. Ironically, that game in Sharjah was abandoned due to rain. It’s probably just as well, since at 88 for 4 after 28 overs (chasing 345 for 5 in 50 overs by Pakistan International Airlines) the UAE was on for a hiding.
