Physical endurance is key for the F1 driver and some even say racing is one of the most physically demanding sports. According to the F1 website, the extreme heat that in a Formula One cockpit is so hot that a driver can sweat off up to 3 kgs of their body weight during the course of a race. In order to withstand the cornering forces and unusual ‘loadings’ experienced by the neck and chest muscles, drivers use specifically designed rigs that enable them to develop the required muscles. In addition to a rigorous exercise routine, F1 drivers observe a strict diet comprised of carefully regulated proteins and carbohydrates. According to the F1 websites, during race weekends most drivers eat pasta or other carbohydrate-rich foods.
