Though Mc Donald’s has been the subject of much criticism and controversy, the most damaging would probably be the publishing of the book Fast Food Nation and the documentary Super Size Me.
Eric Schlosser’s book Fast Food Nation, criticized the business practices of Mc Donald’s including the allegations about the company’s treatment of its staff. Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me claimed that the Golden Arches played an instrumental role in the obesity epidemic in the US. In the documentary Spurlock consumed nothing but food from Mc Donald’s for a month and monitored his health throughout the experiment. It wasn’t a surprise that Spurlock would be worse -off post the binge, but the extent to which his body deteriorated shocked viewers.
Including Kipp, who stopped eating fast food for half a year after watching the documentary. We eat it again now though because it tastes so good. Hmmm…
