Oscar’s Historic Moments
When you have a history that exceeds half a century glamour, you are bound to have a great number of memorable moments to fit into a little Kipp’s section like this. And though we did have to struggle just a bit to narrow it down, Kipp would have to say the Oscar goes to (boom boom) the historic 2002 event when more than forty years after the civil rights movement Halle Berry and Denzil Washington became the first African Americans man and woman to win the Oscar for leading male and female actors in the same year. And because the academy was feeling particularly benevolent towards the cause of the African Americans, Sidney Poitier was also awarded the Honorary Oscar award. This is stuff history is made of.
