“My father is my teacher. I learn something from him every day, follow his path and absorb from him his values, and the need for patience and prudence in all things” -Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed on his father, and the father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed.
Sheikh Khalifa, who has been the crown prince of Abu Dhabi since 1969, has been said to be “a pro-Western moderniser.” Following the sad demise of his father in 2004, Sheikh Khalifa ascended to the position of President of the UAE; in fact he was unanimously elected as the UAE’s new President by the Supreme Council of the Federation. Known to have a passion for camel and horse racing, Sheikh Khalifa has also instituted a number of prizes to support the development programs in UAE, including the Khalifa Education Prize, Khalifa Excellence Prize, the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship at the American University of Sharjah, and the Khalifa Fund to support small and medium enterprises. In honour of the UAE’s 40th National Day, we present to you Sheikh Khalifa’s closest network; the six other Emirati rulers. Click NEXT to see it.
