The UAE film scene is relatively young, but it does have a few jewels to boast of, and Emirati film director Abdullah Al Ka’abi is one of them. Just today Gulf News featured an article on how the young director will have his film “The Philosopher” screened at the Tribeca Film Festival 2011 in New York. The film, which was screened this December at the DIFF, will receive its 16th festival selection counting Tribeca. For his part Al Ka’abi is thrilled. He told Gulf News “After seeing my film, a film expert asked me: ‘Are you really 24? (…) The support has been tremendous. I have been away since December promoting the film but the amount of messages on email and Twitter are humbling indeed and can’t wait to be back home after Tribeca and Cannes.” His film, “The Philosopher” which had a AED1million budget has a noteworthy cast including Hollywood French actor…
