Martin Kaymer was in the news late last month when he became Europe’s youngest number one golfer for 21 years thanks to acing through the final round at the Dubai World Championship. Kaymer, who is just 25 years old, was ecstatic with his victory and told the BBC: “It is a very proud moment not only for me but for my family, friends and the people who have helped me (…) Last year gave me the belief that I could win the Race to Dubai and become one of the best players in the world and that was what I did. I certainly didn’t expect to win a major this year but I did that. A lot of things have happened in this, my fifth year on the tour, and I think it will take a few weeks to realise what has happened.”
This season sure has been an excellent one for the young German golfer: he started off by winning the Abu Dhabi Championship and soon after won the title of US PGA champion. He also picked up titles at the KLM Open and Dunhill Links Championship. A world class golfer, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Kaymer has rubbed shoulders with the most famous of them all…
