Surely not the James Hogan from Etihad? Yes, the very same. Hogan became non-executive director of Gallacher in 2005, as Northridge entered his final year with the company.
The CEO of Etihad Airways, he was appointed to the role in 2006. Hogan was earlier the CEO and president of Gulf Air, where he was responsible for the Project Falcon program which involved a re-branding of the airline and the launch of new services. Before joining Gulf Air in 2002, the Australian-born boss held other positions in the airline industry; he was the CEO of the Tesna consortium, which was created to acquire the Australian Ansett Airlines; he was VP, Marketing and Sales, MENA and Europe at Hertz and the worldwide sales director at the Granada Group.
It’s a hard life, being a big time CEO of a growing young airline. As part of Etihad’s branding efforts the company sponsors Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City Football Club – Hogan was on hand in 2009 when the deal was announced and a photocall took place with former MCFC player…
