Yes, another building, what can we say we’re stretching ourselves. Anyway if you still haven’t stolen a moment to soak up the opulent magnificence that is the Grand Mosque, shame on you. And if you have, you will understand just why Kipp finds the structure so remarkable.
Taking over 12 years to be built (at a cost of Dh2.16 billion, no less) at the hands of 3,000 construction workers, the mosque boasts of a couple of Guinness Book records including being home to the largest chandelier and the largest carpet in the world (it weighs 47 tonnes and is estimated to be worth Dh30 million).
