Twenty-two-year old Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy had a successful amateur career, topping the World Amateur Golf Ranking for one week as a 17-year old in 2007—the same year he turned professional. His first pro win is two years later on the European Tour, followed by the PGA tour in 2010.  As an only child, McIlroy was introduced to golf by his father at the very young age of 18 months old. And he most recently won second place at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championships.
