The Chinese actress is a superstar in Asia, and is one of the few big Chinese stars to also have some serious fame in the West. She was pictured with Mellon in Cannes in 2008, at a press conference to raise awareness of the Chinese earthquake.

If you can’t place Zhang let us help out: She was the star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Rush Hour 2, House of Flying Daggers, and Memoirs of a Geisha. She enrolled in China’s prestigious Central Academy of Drama aged 18, and by 19 got her first big role in a film called The Road Home. Just a year later she was in Crouching Tiger, and the rest is history. The films she starred in gained wide acclaim globally, and she became a star in Hollywood as well as China.
