Richard Branson
Known for his Virgin empire, Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson started his first successful business venture with a magazine called Student at age 16. Afterwards, this eldest son of a barrister set up an audio record mail-order business and then finally a chain of record stores that you recognise today. Of course Branson has expanded his group’s reach to include aviation and even space travel.
Branson is the 5th richest person in the UK and the 245th in the world according to Forbes’ list of billionaires, with an estimated net worth of $4.2 billion.
Aside from business, Branson also has political leanings, although never enough for him to show interest in actually running for office. He was this Iron Lady’s ‘litter Tsar’ however—charged with ‘keeping Britain tidy’.
