The three-month-long program of entertainment for the whole family will run until August 31, leaving more than enough time to attend numerous shows.
Featuring theatre, international ballet shows, film premiers, music concerts, comedy nights, circus performances and much more, Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2014 will bring together artists from across the region, Russia and the USA.
Here are our top five picks to see in Abu Dhabi this summer:
Shadowland by Pilobolus
August 8 – August 16
A performance by dance group Pilobolus, which comprises a part dance, part circus and part concert shadow act. Created in collaboration with Steven Banks, the lead writer for the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, the show is performed with the original score by David Poe, an American musician, producer and film composer.
La Verita by the producers of Cirque du Soleil Corteo
August 21 – August 31
Written and directed by Finzi Pasca, La Verita is homage to the life of artist Salvador Dali. Performed in front of an original Salvador Dali painted backdrop, La Verita features acrobats playing instruments, singing, juggling and dancing.
David Blaine: Real or Illusion
August 21 – August 23
World renowned illusionist and endurance artist, David Blaine, will make his Middle Eastern debut in Abu Dhabi this summer. The enthusiastic artist’s shows will feature life-threatening feats that will be sure to keep you on your toes.
The Cake Boss
Buddy Valastro will take part in a live, interactive event at Emirates Palace this summer. The baker will not only answer audience’s questions, but will also give live demonstrations of the techniques that have helped him make his name in the American baking industry today.
Arab Stars Showcase
Showcasing previous winners of Arab Idol, Arabs Got Talent and The Voice, Arab Stars presents exciting young talents from the region, including Mohammed Assaf, Ahmed Al Bayed and Mohammed Al-Dairi.
