The council has been working to roll out a number of initiatives in the areas of tourism and culture in 2012. “We are also working in the United States to help get the message out in various markets. Whether it is Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas or Chicago, we want to spread the message that the Emirates are a close partner and friend of the United States. The culture and way of life here is common in many ways to culture and family values in the United States,” he said.
The strengthening of trade is evident with the recent visit of a UAE’s minister to the United States. Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade of the UAE, addressed the business community at an event organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle, and the US-UAE Business Council in Seattle, Washington.
Sheikha Lubna, besides mentioning the 2011 trade figures, highlighted the importance of partnership and investment in the commercial aviation sector to the economies of both countries and hailed Emirates and Boeing for their growing commercial relationship. “We are in the greater Seattle area to celebrate two significant milestones, serving to strengthen economic, social, and cultural bonds between our countries, and our communities,” she told reporters.
