Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) has just announced plans to create the region’s first Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG) studio, based in Abu Dhabi, as part of a joint venture with US-based Gazillion Entertainment.
The first game the new studio proposes to develop is an Arabic language MMOG, based on the character ‘Majid’. According to ADMC, the idea is to “initiate development of regional expertise in the games sector” and “generate games content which is meaningful to the Arab world.”
In 2007, Abu Dhabi-based property developer Aldar, along with ADMC, reached an agreement with Warner Brothers to create a $500 million fund for developing video games in the city.
