The captain of Pakistan’s cricket team is hoping his team will beat Australia in the one day series currently on in the UAE. The five-day series came to the UAE after Australia refused to play in Pakistan due to security concerns. “There is no alternative to playing at home but unfortunately we have to play in [the] Emirates but the conditions here are similar to Pakistan and we feel it is like home away from home,” Khan said before the series started.
Khan started off as an occasional batsman in the Pakistan cricket team; his score of 124 runs against Sri Lanka in October 2004, brought him recognition as an exceptional player. A year later, he was elected as the team’s vice-captain, and since then he has gone on to score several hundreds for his team. In February this year, the skipper also reached the top of the ICC’s player rankings for Test batsmen, thanks to his triple hundred in the Karachi Test against Sri Lanka.
