Tom cruise VS Salman khan
Kipp pits Hollywood to Bollywood once again, looking at Tom Cruise and Salman Khan.Looks like we’ve let the bad boy get the best of us. Which one though?
The 49-year old Hollywood actor is more known now for his couch-jumping moves and scientology beliefs that it’s takes time to think back to when he channeled into everybody’s inner Bob Seger in Risky Business. The white shirt-no-pants singing character is still being parodied and imitated until now. Tom Cruise has given audiences around the world a long list of box office hits, from high-octane titles like Top Gun to dramas like lines of A Few Good MenKipp still gets chills watching that momentous “You can’t handle the truth” line delivered by living legend Jack Nicholson.
His fame has been accompanied by many rumours about his personal life. While his upcoming movies seem to be a sign for a comeback…the question is: do we want him back?
Salman started his film career in 1988 when he played supporting role in the film Biwi Ho To Aisi. In 1989 came his solo movie 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' a hit that garnering Salman his first Filmfare Best Debut Award. This was followed by a couple of other blockbusting releases: Baaghi, Pathar Ke Phool and Saajan.
Although he’s had his ups and downs with receiving work, most of what Salman’s made has been highly acclaimed, with 1996 seeing him awarded for Khamooshi-The Musical.
Going well into the 2000s Salman continues to churn out hits and for his hardwork and good eye for silverscreen hits, Kipp awards him a point.
Tom Cruise has undoubtedly oozed appeal on film. A sex symbol since his earliest days on film and a former People selection as The Sexiest Man Alive (1999), his clean-cut look, megawatt smile and cool charisma exude a slick, manly confidence that so many women find appealing.
Despite his shaky public image of late, Tom Cruise could spend a month looking like his Tropic Thunder alter-ego Les Grossman and probably still have no problem finding a hot date. But it just doesn’t do it with Kipp anymore. It’s those crazy eyes...it gives Kipp the hibbie gibbies.
Voted the 7th best-looking man in the world by People magazine, Salman’s looks continue to turn heads across the globe. But he isn’t just a pretty face and a smile that could melt ice, Salman is also known for his dancing style that have graced the screen numerous times. Bringing in a little less crazy and a little more dancing groove, Salman earns another point from Kipp.
Not so long ago, Tom Cruise was the world's most successful and best-paid actor.
But after a string of public relations disasters surrounding his devotion to the religious cult of Scientology, the actor was sensationally fired by his film company, leaving his career a former shadow of its former glory. However, aside from the odd harsh word or two, he’s been pretty harmless in general.
So for keeping his crazy to a minimum (hey, he’s not even close to Sheen’s level, let’s face it.), we give Tom Cruise his first point.
Salman Khan is Bollywood's bad boy and unfortunately it’s overshadowed most of his great acting portfolio. He was arrested and jailed for poaching endangered wild animals after allegedly shooting a rare black antelope near Jodhpur in 1998. He was also arrested for culpable homicide following a car accident in Bombay…and the list goes on.
Kipp likes appreciates a little naughtiness. But we just can’t think of any reason to reward Khan for his bad behaviour.
Between 1993 and 2005, Cruise was nominated a dozen times and won twice: best male performance of 1997 ("Jerry Maguire") and 2001 ("Mission: Impossible II"). He’s also been nominated for his roles in Valkyrie and even for Tropic Thunder, where Kipp’s seen him have the most fun in screen.
Some of his movies will forever be part of those movie-must-sees. However, Tom Cruise hasn’t exactly been the awards committee favourite.
Salman Khan is equally well recognized in Indian award shows, including that of the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment. And for Kipp, at 46 years old, that’s pretty impressive.
