Majid Al Futtaim Holdings has announced that it is planning to spend more than $800 million on upgrading and expanding two of its developments, namely Mall of the Emirates (MOE) and Deira City Centre in Dubai.

The first phase of MOE’s expansion, costing approximately $250 million, will include a 50,000sq ft 30-store fashion district located in the East Wing of the centre. It is due to be completed by the end of 2013.

The mall’s luxury hotel Kempinski will have its 393-room upgraded by the end of 2015, while a new hotel, with 200 rooms and restaurants, is also going to be added. The company did not release the brand’s name.

Furthermore, Pullman Deira City Centre will also undergo an upgrade, as well as a new 292-room luxury hotel. The mall itself is currently undergoing some refurbishment, with a healthcare clinic reported to open.
