Attack highlights France veil-ban

A veiled woman was attacked as France was in the early stages of outlawing fully covering Islamic veils.

A Paris court has given Jeanne Ruby, an elderly French woman, a one-month suspended sentence for attacking an Arab tourist who was wearing a face-covering Muslim veil.

The court also ordered the attacker to pay $1,140 in damages to the victim.

The Arab woman, a citizen of the United Arab Emirates, was attacked last February while spending her holiday in the French capital.
