Debate over Burqa ban hits Syria
Syria's decree aims to control what it sees as the rising influence of Islamic conservatives.

The debate over Burqa bans is ongoing across swathes of Europe, but it was a surprise move coming from the Syrian government, which has decided to forbid the wearing of full-face veils in public schools and university campuses.
Those opposed to the ban have responded by saying that the full-face veil doesn’t represent any radical influence, stressing that the government has no right to outlaw what many believe is a personal freedom.
