Inspired by Tunisia, Jordanians protest
Jordanians have held separate protests in several cities over poverty, unemployment and corruption, hoping that a Tunisian ripple will inspire change.

A new slogan has been added to Jordanians’ often-repeated complaints about government corruption and the soaring cost of living. “A salute,” Jordanians chanted, “from Amman to proud Tunis.”
Demonstrators have been holding peaceful protests off the back of the economic downturn; the popular uprising in Tunisia has raised hopes and cheers from the streets of Jordan.
