Iran starts up first nuclear plant

Concerns in the West that Tehran is pursuing nuclear arms.

Iran has begun loading fuel into its first nuclear power plant despite international suspicion over its motives and UN sanctions against it.
Russian Engineers helped Iranian scientists to power up the reactor by supplying them with fuel.

Iran denies intentions to build nuclear weapons, stressing that its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful. But the West fears Tehran wants to build a nuclear weapon.
