Japanese Transport Minister Seiji Maehara said on Tuesday the government has started investigations into the cause of damage of a Japanese supertanker near the Strait of Hormuz last month but has not yet determined the cause.
“We’ve been carrying out investigations to determine the cause by ourselves, apart from external reports which have suggested it was due to a terror attack,” Maehara said at a regular news conference.
The United Arab Emirates state news agency said last week that militants attacked the supertanker with explosives.
