Pakistan pledges full cooperation in Shahzad investigation
Pakistani officials say that it is premature to link Shahzad to Taliban.

Pakistani-born Faisal Shahzad, 30, was charged Tuesday in a failed plot to explode a car in Times Square in New York. A naturalized American citizen, Shahzad is believed to have spent time in Karachi in the summer of 2009 before returning to the United States.
Friends and relatives of the suspect have allegedly been detained, but authorities say no arrests have been made. The suspect’s links to Pakistani Taliban are a question of imminent concern to authorities, according to Al Jazeera.
But Pakistani officials warn against making premature links to Pakistani Taliban. The Pakistani government has reportedly pledged full cooperation with US officials. Regarding the potential link to Pakistani Taliban, one army official noted that, “anybody can claim anything. But whether the organization has that kind of reach is questionable,” Al Jazeera reported.
