Top female tennis players compete in Doha

The season-ending WTA Championships are now underway in Doha, with eight of the world’s best female tennis stars – though neither Serena nor Venus Williams – vying for nearly four and a half million dollars. Since 1970, when Billie Jean King started the first women’s professional tennis tournament, the nature of the game has significantly changed.
