Dubai Duty Free Marks 29th Anniversary with 25% Discount

The Anniversary day offers travellers the chance to avail of this one-off offer of 25% discount across a wide range of merchandise. The 25% discount offer will begin at midnight on the 19^th December and will end at midnight on the 20^th December.

Commenting on the anniversary day plans, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman, Colm McLoughlin said: “The anniversary discount offer, which began with Dubai Duty Free’s 20^th Anniversary in 2003, proved to be so popular with travelers, some of whom book their flights in order to shop on that day. We see this as our way of saying thank you to our customers who have helped Dubai Duty Free to achieve such fantastic sales results over the years.”

Traditionally a busy sales day for Dubai Duty Free, the 20^th December offer will undoubtedly result in keeping the cash registers ringing throughout the operation.

“Last year, on our 28^th anniversary, our sales soared to Dhs86.75 million (US$24 million) so we are looking forward to seeing if that figure can be topped this year,“ added Mr. McLoughlin.

As part of the 29th Anniversary celebrations, Dubai Duty Free will ensure a party-like atmosphere throughout the retail operation on that day. Plans are in place to conduct two Millennium Millionaire draws, a Finest Surprise Luxury Car draw and a series of other promotional activities that will involve travellers and staff.

When Dubai Duty Free opened for business on 20^th December 1983, the operation had 100 employees, 46 of whom are still in active service and are referred to as the ‘pioneers’. The operation currently employs 5,000 staff comprising of 46 different nationalities.
