US officials said indirect peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians will resume as early as Thursday, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. US envoy George Mitchell is reportedly scheduled to arrive in Israel by Monday.
White house officials report Palestinian President Abbas was agreeable to restarting stalled negotiations, provided the US consider allowing a UN security council resolution condemnation of Israel for building in disputed territory, should such a resolution be brought before the council, the Wall Street Journal said.
The Arab league Saturday endorsed restarting peace talks.
