Bahrain and UK to boost trade

Prince Andrew visits Bahrain, where Minister Fakhro stresses the shared views and close political and economic ties between the nations.

Bahrain Minister of Industry and Commerce Hassan Abdullah Fakhro on Thursday held talks with the Prince Andrew, Duke of York, at the ministry’s premises in Seef District. The minister reviewed with the prince the existing ties between Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

During the talks, Fakhro highlighted the importance of the existing trade, commercial, political and culture ties between the two countries and said with the unanimity of views and close relationship between leadership of both countries the relations are getting stronger with each passing day.

Fakhro also gave a short briefing on the existing ties during the meeting that was also attended by the British Ambassador Jamie Bowden and Prince Andrew’s accompanying delegation in addition to the top officials of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

During the meeting, minister of industry and commerce lauded the deep-rooted ties between the both sides and said the existing excellent ties were the result of keenness and personal interest of the leadership of both countries.

The minister also stressed the government’s keenness to broaden base of the existing relations by promoting two-way investments and facilitating trade.

Fakhro urged Bahrain’s private sector to benefit from the expertise developed in the UK in all disciplines, as well as to demonstrate the advanced image of Bahrain and the status of development and progress in all sectors. Highlighting the role of the economic sector in the development of Bahrain, Fakhro said the economic sector would continue to play a pivotal role in enhancing the trade, commerce, investment and industrial development in the years to come. Bahrain, the minister said, has put in place an integrated industrial development policy aimed at creating Bahrain as a world class hub in the Middle East and the establishment of Salman Industrial City would continue to serve as a cornerstone for this strategic move.

The minister also shed a light on Bahrain’s endeavor to establish a new expo city in Sakhir area as of efforts to put Bahrain on the global map of the multi-billion dollar meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry.
