Devastating earthquake hits northwest China
China awoke Wednesday to a humanitarian disaster, following an earthquake that killed 300 people.

At least 300 people died Wednesday and 8,000 others were injured in an earthquake in the Quinghai Province of northwestern China, near the Tibetan border, with according to Wednesday’s New York Times.
China’s earthquake administration stated that the quake had a magnitude of 7.1.
The earthquake rocked the Yushu County region, a distant and mountainous area, inhabited largely by rural farmers and herders. The region is home to an estimated 80,000 inhabitants, most of whom are ethnic Tibetans.
