Analysts expect as many as 14,000 additional hotel rooms to become available in Dubai by the end of 2012, as strong demand growth is expected over the short to medium term, according to research by Jones Lang LaSalle, Emirates Business reported Monday .
Major hotels scheduled for opening by the end of 2012 include the Ritz Carlton, the Pullman, and the Fairmont Resort & Spa. In the previous quarter, nearly 3,600 additional rooms have become available with the opening of the Armani in Burj Khalifa, Sofitel in Jumeirah Beach, and Mövenpick in Jumeirah Beach, the report said.
Occupancy rates for Dubai’s high end hotels declined in the first quarter of 2009, compared to the year earlier period, Emirates Business said, but began to stabilize and increase in the first quarter of this year. Occupancy in high-end hotels hit 80 percent in the first quarter of 2010, up from 75 percent in the year earlier period.
