Dubai Properties to counter-sue
Company to counter-sue UK architect Hopkins.
June 30, 2010 9:12 by Samuel Potter
Property developer Dubai Properties has announced that it plans to sue Hopkins Architects, reports Khaleej Times.
The move is a counter-sue in response to a suit from UK firm Hopkins, which is claiming damages over the termination of a project.
As Kipp has reported, Hopkins, a top British architectural and engineering company, is suing Dubai Properties Group over a pair of stalled towers in Dubai’s financial center. Hopkins has filed a claim in the Dubai International Financial Center Courts for more than AED 27 million in allegedly unpaid fees and costs relating to the Central Park 08 project.
According to Kahleej Times, a Dubai Properties spokesman was quoted by Reuters as saying that the company had terminated the contract but had paid in full for the work done and were disputing the additional amounts the architects were claiming.
“We intend to counter-claim in relation to the services provided by Hopkins,” the Dubai Properties spokesman told the news agency.
