Emirates NBD , the Gulf’s largest bank by assets, on Monday said it appointed Surya Subramanian, a former Standard Chartered banker, as its new chief financial officer.

Emirates NBD is one of the region’s banks most exposed to Dubai World , the conglomerate that on Friday said it reached a deal with its creditors to restructure nearly $24.9 billion of liabilities.

Subramanian, a chartered accountant, has worked in banking and finance in India, Pakistan and Singapore. He joins from the Ministry of Finance and the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority in Singapore, the bank said in a statement.
