Hamas on Thursday executed two men charged with collaborating with Israel, the Gulf Daily News reported Friday. The two were reportedly convicted by military courts of the crime and sentenced to death. Their “bullet-riddled bodies” were reportedly dumped at Gaza City’s hospital, in what is reportedly the first death penalty execution in Gaza since Hamas’ takeover in 2007.
A brother of one of the executed reportedly said that the families were not informed of the pending executions, the newspaper reported, adding that three more convicted of collaborating with Israel are presently on death row in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Independent Commission for Human Rights.
