Health problems for residents of Northern Emirates
Study examined health disparities in the Emirates.

Citizens of the Northern Emirates have a higher rate of allergies and respiratory problems than citizens elsewhere in the country, according to new findings of a comprehensive survey of the state of the nation’s health, the National reported Sunday.
Around 35,000 locals and expats were interviewed for the study, conducted by Zayed University, designed to determine dispartieites in the overall population’s wellness. Study findings reveal that residents of the Northern Emirates were heavy smokers.
Forty percent say they smoke tobacco or shisa, and an additional 37 percent are exposed to second hand smoke.
Poor environmental air quality was a problem for many in the region, and anemia and allergies were also found to be prevalent, the National added.
