Iran is not ‘months away’ from producing nuclear weapons, says US
U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates says it could be a year or more before Iran is able to make a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s nuclear development program is not currently capable of producing weaponry, according to comments made by US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, reported by Reuters.
Responding to speculation that the Islamic republic may be just months away from producing a nuclear weapon, Gates disagreed.
Speaking to reporters aboard a flight to south America, the defense secretary said, “I think that most estimates that I’ve seen, haven’t changed since the last time we talked about it, which is probably at least a year, and maybe more,” Reuters reported Wednesday.
