Israel continues to allege that Damascus is supplying Scud missiles to Hizbullah. But, officials in Lebanon’s administration charge that the Scud allegations are a device to divert attention away from the stalled Middle East peace talks, according to Tuesday’s Daily Star.
Hariri is reportedly engaging contacts in Arab and European governments on the matter, particularly Israeli threats against Syria and Israel amid stalled peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
Israel earlier this month charged Syria’s President Assad with supplying Scuds to Hizbullah, but Damascus has repeatedly denied the charges.
