New UAE ID card application process to cut wait
A new system to process identity card applications in the UAE should speed up the registration process, says authority.

A new system for processing identity card applications is set to be introduced in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain tomorrow, reports The National.
The new process should save each applicant up to 20 minutes, says the Emirates ID Authority. The new system means rather than download and fill out forms themselves, applicants can go to one of 19 typing centers across the two cities and a trained member of staff can fill out their application for them.
This will eliminate mistakes, says the paper. Dr Ali al Khouri, the deputy chairman of EIDA’s higher management committee, told the paper, “The new process is faster because we pushed most of the procedures out of the registration cycle.”
The new system is expected to roll out to other emirates gradually.

Standing in queues in typing centers is not the answer to saving time. Decidedly the comfort of my home to get this done is the preferred path as the form is easy enough to understand and complete.
It is amazing how every form to be filled for the government finds its way to a typing centre. For the day when an individual is given a choice to use a typing centre or their own abilities and skills.
it s good news that 19 Typing Centres are open across Al Ain & Abu Dhabi which will be of great relief for many people. But those who can do the same at their own should be given the option online as was being done earlier so that further waiting time can be reduced and even avoided.
It would be good if the form was actually easy to download. There will still be queues in typing centres now instead of ID centres. This is a farce – nobody seems interested in people using the card as a form of ID and nobody has really explained why it is necessary when we already have passports, visas, labour cards, driving licences, eGate cards…
eGate cards! Now there is something that works perfectly well here, Why can’t getting the ID card be as simple as getting an eGate card?
