A new system for processing identity card applications is set to be introduced in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain tomorrow, reports The National.
The new process should save each applicant up to 20 minutes, says the Emirates ID Authority. The new system means rather than download and fill out forms themselves, applicants can go to one of 19 typing centers across the two cities and a trained member of staff can fill out their application for them.
This will eliminate mistakes, says the paper. Dr Ali al Khouri, the deputy chairman of EIDA’s higher management committee, told the paper, “The new process is faster because we pushed most of the procedures out of the registration cycle.”
The new system is expected to roll out to other emirates gradually.
