Obama administration renews Syria sanctions
US says Damascus supports terrorist groups and is pursuing weapons of mass destruction.

Following recent US accusations that Damascus supplied Hezbollah with Scud missiles, the Obama administration announced a one-year renewal of US-Syria sanctions, the BBC reported Tuesday.
In a message to Congress, the US President referred to Syria’s “continuing support for terrorist organizations and pursuit of weapons of mass destruction,” adding that Syria poses “an extraordinary threat,” to US security and foreign policy, the BBC added.
