Pakistan blocks YouTube
Blocked websites may account for as much as one-quarter of internet traffic in the country.

In an attempt to contain “blasphemous” material, Pakistan has blocked YouTube, a video sharing website, the Gulf News reported Friday.
The move follows actions by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority directing internet service providers to bar access to the social networking site, Facebook. The PTA issued an order late Wednesday seeking an “immediate” blockade of YouTube.
It is estimated that the two blockades will account for as much as a quarter of the total internet traffic in the country, the report said.
