Abu Dhabi authorities have seized three tonnes of expired cosmetics and beauty products from salons and retailers, the National reported Monday. In addition to the seizures, scores of retailers have been fined in the crackdown aimed at ensuring health standards, and preventing the spread of disease.
Products with inadequate labeling that failed to indicate ingredients and expiration dates have been collected. Offenders have also faced legal action, including the loss of their commercial licenses, the report added.
Health officials warned that expired or questionable products could induce skin reactions, rashes, infections, and allergies.
