Passenger traffic through UAE airports posted a dramatic rise in May compared to the year earlier period, the Gulf News reported Wednesday. Last month, passenger movements of 54,000 were noted, representing a 12.3 percent increase over that seen in May of 2009, according to the General Civil Aviation Authority, the GCAA.
The GCAA report identified Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports as having eight of the ten busiest international routes, with the Dubai to London route ranking first and offering 1,141 flights per week, served by nine operators. Other than London, routes to Singapore, New York, and Bangkok ranked among the five busiest.
