The UAE has extended its midday work ban – in force during the summer months – to three months, reports Maktoob.com.
The Labor Minitry said the move follows extensive talks with the private sector. Previously, the work ban lasted just two months.
The ban will now be in effect between June 15 and September 15, says the report. The ban begins at 12.30pm and lasts until 3pm.
“The decision to extend the ban has come after extensive talks among the labor ministry, private sector and construction sector,” a UAE Ministry of Labour spokeswoman told Maktoob News. “The decision will protect the rights of workers and at the same time will not damage the interests of business.”
