UAE nationals will not be included in US visa waiver program

The US Congress is unlikely to add additional member nations to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) according to the US Ambassador to the UAE Richard Olson, Gulf News reports.
The UAE issues visas upon arrival for US citizens and is seeking reciprocal treatment for Emirati nationals, the report says.
However, the US is unlikely to add UAE citizens to its visa waiver program, according to Ambassador Olsen, who explained that the US Congress must approve any additions to the VWP, of which there have been none in recent years.
“VWP members are also required to maintain high counterterrorism, law enforcement, border control, and document security standards,” the Gulf News quotes Olson as saying.
