UAE to block mobile spam
Telecoms authority asks operators to provide subscribers with information on how to block incoming commercial texts.

Telecoms operators in the UAE are set to provide mobile subscribers with an option to block promotional text messages, reports the Gulf News.
The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has asked the telecoms operators Du and Etisalat to provide subscribers with information on how to block incoming text messages, says the paper.
“The TRA has reached an agreement with du and etisalat on the matter and the option to block unwanted promotions text messages will be made available based on the subscriber’s request,” says the article.
The only exception will be texts from banks, as this is a service provided to bank customers, said an official.
