Tim Torlot, UK’s ambassador to Yemen, was the apparent intended target of a suicide bomb attack Monday, CNN reported Tuesday, when his convoy was attacked a short distance from the British Embassy.
The British ambassador survived without injury and no other staff were injured, the report said. Yemen’s US Embassy in Washington said that the alleged suicide bomber was the only fatality in the attack, CNN reported. The attacker has been identified as Othman Ali al Salwi, aged 22, from Taiz province.
Information regarding bystander injuries is conflicting.
