The UK Guardian has reported Monday that an English lawyer and US lobbyists are allegedly preparing a campaign that seeks to return the ousted prince of Ras al-Khaimah, RAK, to power.
According to the report, solicitor Peter Cathcart is coordinating on behalf of the dethroned prince, Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr al-Qasimi, a campaign to “undermine the current regime’s standing” and force the regime in Abu Dhabi to “make a change.”
The campaign to oust the current regime in RAK involves some high profile players, says the paper, including a powerful assortment of Washington PR consultants and lobbyists, US special forces strategists, and the BSKH lobbying firm that helped Iraqi Ahmed Chalabi in his opposition of Saddam Hussein.
The campaign alleges that the RAK leadership is “implicated in an alleged terror plot to blow up the world’s tallest building in Dubai, and a possible Iranian attack on US participants in the America’s Cup yachting race,” the Guardian said.
